Covid-19-: एक भूत या बीमारी??

We all have heard some people saying "भूत वूत कुछ नहीं होता " but hearing people say "कोरोना पोरोना कुछ नहीं होता" is something that shall be regarded in my opinion as a violation of "Right to Fundamental Life" guaranteed to us by the Indian Constitution.

The question arises why so?? Why to believe in corona porona?? Why to believe in something as simply described as sardi khaasi.

The answer lies in the term " Pandemic" itself which was designated to Covid in march itself. The pandemic simply means worldwide spread of a disease.

I hope only this one liner definition gives you some reason to believe that covid exists for real. If not this then, through my blog, may be I could convince you for that its real.

I do believe that everyone of you must attach more importance to people's lives rather than political statements on masks, to nurses and doctors but not absurd theories on immunity.

Many people,I know, reject of coronavirus as it has very low fatality rate but if you peek into world's data then you may find that 1 lac deaths happened in 100 days at start but last 1 lac deaths in just 10 days which reflects that although the infection fertility rate may be lower now but absolute no. Of deaths are now accumulating faster since cases are manifold.

Now,here are some myths and facts, which I drew from the twitter handle of Dr. Faheem Younus(University of Maryland, United States).

1) Myth-: Covid is ending, we don't need a vaccine.

Fact -: Sero surveys have shown that ~90% of the world is still at risk of covid. Vaccine could be the best weapon against this.

2) Myth -: Everyone will get Covid

Fact -: So far, only less than 10% of the world has been exposed to covid ( even if we multiply recorded no. By 6 times ).

     Moreover,

65% of the world never got spanish flu

85% of the world never got H1N1 virus

3) Myth -: Antibiotics and Vitamins treat Covid

Fact -: No evidence of it. Antibiotics evidently treat bacteria not viruses and covid is a virus. Take vitamin pills only if you have a deficiency in any of them.

Now, here are some Q & A -:

1) How long does covid immunity lasts?

Ans.) Data says 7 months but it differs on invidual basis.

2) Are Vaccine trials risky to volunteer in?

Ans.) Vaccines may have a 1 in a million risk of side effects of serious nature , meanwhile covid is killing 10000 people daily.

3) What is an ideal Covid timeline?

Ans.) Exposed (day 0)

          Tested + (day 3-4)

          Symptoms onset (day 5)

          Contagious ( day 4-12)

Test remains +ve for weeks but patient not contagious after 10 days.

4) Which vaccine will likely reach developing world first?

Ans.) Forget about Moderna vaccine/ Pfizer vaccine anytime soon.

Despite all its problems, Oxford/Az vaccine is front runner, 3 billion doses, affordable, regular fridge storage.

Lets remember our duty against this virus, as its not a simple disease affecting only you or me at a time, it is dangerous as being contagious termed already as a pandemic.

"Lets not treat a single death as a tragedy, but a million deaths as a statistic."

Most importantly,

Lets realise the pain of our health workers and doctors who are tirelessly into this fight against the virus for months and if we want to go back to school, colleges, offices, cinema halls with full sense of being, then we have to first recognise the pandemic and then fight against it.

-:Here'a mantra to fight covid for all-:

#Wash Hands

#Wear a Mask

#Avoid crowds
