Retrospecting the Roller Coaster Ride: 2020

Image
Finally, the year is about to end but hardly the challenges and uncertainties. Their existence prevails indefinitely. Retrospecting year 2020 might sound tedious and mundane to many of us but I must say, it has been an “extraordinary year” at an individual as well as global level. It’s a year we might want to wash off from our subconscious mind but lets’ prefer to retain the lessons it taught to this inhumane human civilization. Personally, like everyone else I also kicked off 2019 and welcomed 2020 with great excitement, vigor and enthusiasm. My bucket list was ready, New Year resolutions were all set, strategies were well framed and targets seemed not so far. The start was quite decent but suddenly some catastrophic element poked and the world was completely changed. “Bloodshed and Deaths” engrossed 2020. To begin with the capital city, engulfed in communal riots and violence followed by emergence of some deadly virus which forced the entire planet into complete lockdown. G...

Mental Health : A health and development issue

Image
We can notice that how often we find ourselves and others saying " There's a lot of stress yaar". This word stress is not something which is treated but accepted as normal part of life, however it seriously can affect people in very abnormal ways. How often we hear stress is the right way to gauge how often we actually are facing mental health problems.  If we come up with a statistic then this issue of mental health might top the table of "most un-reported health issue". This owes to its complexity and stigmatisation. To have it in numbers, 1 in every 4 persons may suffer some mental health problems at some point of life, few even at some phases of their life. If you see it in historical perspective, why this mental health is a much lesser known and stigmatised issue, you might find that earlier people didn't talk of individual interests, they don't believed in any individual privacy, they were always ready to socialize but generationally and subseque...

Covid-19-: एक भूत या बीमारी??

Image
We all have heard some people saying "भूत वूत कुछ नहीं होता " but hearing people say "कोरोना पोरोना कुछ नहीं होता" is something that shall be regarded in my opinion as a violation of "Right to Fundamental Life" guaranteed to us by the Indian Constitution. The question arises why so?? Why to believe in corona porona?? Why to believe in something as simply described as sardi khaasi. The answer lies in the term " Pandemic" itself which was designated to Covid in march itself. The pandemic simply means worldwide spread of a disease. I hope only this one liner definition gives you some reason to believe that covid exists for real. If not this then, through my blog, may be I could convince you for that its real. I do believe that everyone of you must attach more importance to people's lives rather than political statements on masks, to nurses and doctors but not absurd theories on immunity. Many people,I know, reject of coronavirus as it has very ...

मां- बाप का अर्थ ?

Image

Hathras-: A Rape by Society

Image
" Another Year; Another hour; Another rape - Hathras incident adds another shame! ”   Every event happens after some stipulated time period  but “Rape” is such a brutal act that happens every another hour, minute and second. This case of Hathras Gang rape is not only a case of rape but also an attempt to subjugate the so called low-caste people, not only to subjugate low caste people but also an attempt to destroy the evidence by forcing an unethical cremation of the victim at 2:30 A.M. without even the presence of family,  not only an attempt to destroy the evidence but also to violate freedom of expression and speech of victim's family by smashing Section 144 in the village and not allowing anyone to reach or approach the family. U.P. Police A.D.G doing best to make mockery out of his department now by making away all the claims of rape by quoting Forensic investigations, may be he doesn't realise that people might by now don't trust their police at all. This whole t...

Revisiting Nationalism : A critical new rise to 74th Independence day

Image
Initially, sincere apologies to all those nationalist readers who jumped into this article thinking nationalism to be something as narrow as is discussed in today's India, as this is not going to be any case. Nationalism according to me is nothing but “feeling of belonging and doing every bit for the nation( more importantly its people)” . Hence, through my lens its not about India but Indians.   This independence day, I tried to revisit the memoirs and challenges of hard carved out Independent India. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru's speech "Tryst with destiny" delivered on 15th August,1947 still holds relevance and significance as India in 2020 also is battling along the lines of plethora of challenges which it faced at the stroke of independence.   According to World Economic Forum' there are 7 key challenges which India faces currently , I will try to dive into those one by one in this article.   • Education and Skills     India's primary education system refle...

BackToSchool - Access to Education for Girls amidst Covid-19

Image
Today I read a newspaper headline  “All-girls robotics team in Afghanistan designs low-cost ventilator” . It was not at all astonishing for me. Why? Because I believe girls are performing better and are capable of achieving and doing a lot more. On the other hand, if we pay attention to the education for girls during and after Covid-19, it seems worse. Stress, anxiety, depression, job losses of family members have led to a rapid drop outs of students especially girls. If we look back to the ancient times of Maharani Laxmi Bai and other such queens of our land, it sets an example to the bold, fierce and fearless attitude of women those days. Even if we notice today we have list of talented women in every field be it sports, science, politics, media, films, corporate sector etc. In contrast to this, it’s astonishing in this modern times to witness people who tag girls as a  “burden”  and  good for nothing  – except for household chores and takin...
